Reception Admissions
The Partnership Trust is the Admissions Authority for our school. However, the Local Authority manages admissions on behalf of the Trust for children joining at the start of Reception. Information can be found on here.
Joining School in Reception: Children are offered three full terms of education in their reception year and most are admitted in the September following their fourth birthday. Legally, however, children do not have to be in school until the beginning of the term following their fifth birthday, so parents may defer the start of school until January or April if they wish. If you would like to find out more, please get in touch.
To ensure a happy and confident start to their formal schooling, there is a carefully managed induction programme in September which includes shorter sessions and days. This enables the staff team to build relationships with the children and for the children to settle into new routines.
Children and parents are invited into school for a series of induction events in the summer term preceding their entry. In the first term, parents are invited to curriculum events where information is shared to help them support their child’s learning.
In Year Admissions: In year admissions are requests for places at school aside from the initial admission of Reception children and/or Year 3 children each September. As an own admission authority, The Partnership Trust is responsible for setting in year admissions processes for all schools within in.

Please note that, for children joining us at the start of reception, once we are notified of that they have been allocated a place at our school, we will contact you with an invitation to take part in our induction programme. This provides an opportunity for you and your child to learn more about the school and meet the class teachers and for us to find out more about your child.
When children are entering part way through a school year we work closely with parents/carers to create an induction process that makes transition as smooth as possible.

Breakfast Club and After School Centre
Working parents can benefit from quality wrap-around child care provision offered at Abbot Alphege Academy.
Our Breakfast Club runs from 8.00am to 8.50am, Monday to Friday.
Our After School Centre also runs between 3.20pm and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Internet Safety
At Abbot Alphege Academy we aim to provide children with a Computing and PSHE curriculum that enables them to develop as safe internet users.
The Internet has fast become part of our daily lives and routine. Whether this be as a tool to contact friends and family, research interests, aid learning or for our jobs. It is a fantastic tool that offers so many benefits.
However, with the ever changing nature of the internet and how it is used it is important that we start developing the relevant e-safety skills when age appropriate. At Abbot Alphege we teach e-Safety as part of our computing and PSHE curriculum. Naturally, this is something many parents like to reinforce at home and so we recommend that you follow the web links below in order to find out more.
PTA
Everyone who has a child at AAA is invited to get involved in supporting school life. Some parents choose or are able to to be more involved and we hope they will consider joining our PTA, which is currently paused in its activities, but is very keen to get started again as soon as possible.
The Group has the role of co-ordinating social events and raising funds for the school. These funds are used for the ‘extras’ that make school life brilliant for the children and that the school budget would not stretch to on its own. It is a rewarding way to volunteer and really makes a difference to our school.
There will be more information coming very soon on how to get involved and who to contact.

School Meals Menu
Our school meals are cooked freshly in our own kitchen from locally sourced, organic produce. We can cater for all dietary requirements. Please talk to us if your child needs something specific and we can help you.
Our Cook, Annie, is amazing and our children are very well fed!
School Uniform
Our uniform consists of a purple sweatshirt/fleece featuring the Abbot Alphege Academy logo, and either grey trousers, skirts or shorts, with a gold short sleeved tee-shirt. It is available to buy from Scholars at 4 Terrace Walk, Bath, or you can order online from www.scholars-uk.com or https://myclothing.com/abbot-alphege-academy/24794.school
In the summer, dresses can either be purple and white, or gold and white gingham.
Children should wear plain black or brown shoes or plain black trainers if you prefer. We ask that children do not wear open toed shoes for safety reasons.
It is important that children change into their PE kit during PE lessons. As a guide, PE kits should consist of: black daps, black shorts or black tracksuit bottoms, a white tee-shirt and a pair of socks. PE kits should remain in school, only going home at the weekends or holidays for washing.
All items of clothing must be clearly named.

Sports and Clubs
Children at Abbot Alphege Academy follow a varied sports programme designed to teach the necessary skills and attitudes required to play and enjoy sport. A typical lesson includes work on specific skills leading towards a game or mini-game. We have our sports field and hard court. We also benefit from the provision of high quality professional coaching on an occasional basis from a variety of sources such as Bath Rugby Club.
A number of clubs run throughout the week during term time. The staff (and parent helpers) offer these voluntarily. Currently, clubs are paused due to our current circumstances, but we will reinstate after school clubs as soon as we can.

Ways in Which You Can Help Us
Parents often wonder what they can do to help their children through their school years. Here are several suggestions:
